We're proud to share that the design for our new Eugene headquarters has been named a winner of the 2026 AIA Oregon People's Choice Award, taking top honors in the Eugene section's Unbuilt category. The award, decided entirely by public online voting, recognizes the building's design before a single beam has been raised.
The headquarters was designed by Rowell Brokaw Architects, a longtime Eugene firm known for work that's thoughtful, regionally rooted, and built to last — values that align closely with our own approach to the timber we mill every day.
A New Chapter for Our Eugene Campus
This recognition arrives at a pivotal moment for Zip-O-Log Mills. Our Eugene campus is in the midst of its most significant expansion in company history: the Maxi-Mill is now fully operational as Phase 1 of that effort, and we've since moved forward with Phase 2. Add in recent upgrades to our Goshen planer facility, and it's clear this is a company investing deliberately in its future — not just in equipment and capacity, but in the people and place behind it.
The new headquarters is meant to reflect that. As a fourth-generation, family-owned business, we've always believed that where our team works matters as much as what we produce. This building is designed to be a place our employees, customers, and community can be proud of for generations to come.
Chosen by the Public
Unlike a traditional jury award, the AIA Oregon People's Choice Award is decided by public vote. Entries from across the Bend, Eugene, and Southern Oregon sections were displayed for the community to see and vote on in person, which makes this recognition feel especially meaningful — it wasn't just a panel of architects who responded to this design, it was our own community.
We want to extend a sincere thank-you to Rowell Brokaw Architects for a design that clearly resonated, and to everyone who took the time to vote.
What's Next
With this win, the headquarters design is now eligible for entry into the 2026 Oregon Architecture Awards, with the ceremony taking place during the Oregon Design Conference in Portland this September. We'll share updates as that process unfolds — and, of course, as construction on the building itself moves forward.
Stay tuned for more from Zip-O-Log Mills as we continue building for the next generation.
